The present invention relates to the delivery of stimulants through an
inhalation route. Specifically, it relates to aerosols containing
ephedrine or fenfluramine that are used in inhalation therapy. In a
composition aspect of the present invention, the aerosol comprises
particles comprising at least 5 percent by weight of ephedrine or
fenfluramine. In a method aspect of the present invention, one of
ephedrine or fenfluramine is delivered to a mammal through an inhalation
route. The method comprises: a) heating a composition, wherein the
composition comprises at least 5 percent by weight of ephedrine or
fenfluramine, to form a vapor; and, b) allowing the vapor to cool, thereby
forming a condensation aerosol comprising particles, which is inhaled by
the mammal. In a kit aspect of the present invention, a kit for delivering
ephedrine or fenfluramine through an inhalation route to a mammal is
provided which comprises: a) a composition comprising at least 5 percent
by weight of ephedrine or fenfluramine; and, b) a device that forms an
ephedrine or fenfluramine containing aerosol from the composition, for
inhalation by the mammal.
La présente invention concerne la livraison des stimulants par un itinéraire d'inhalation. Spécifiquement, elle se relie aux aérosols contenant l'éphédrine ou le fenfluramine qui sont employés dans la thérapie d'inhalation. Dans un aspect de composition de la présente invention, l'aérosol comporte des particules comportant au moins 5 pour cent en poids de l'éphédrine ou du fenfluramine. Dans un aspect de méthode de la présente invention, une d'éphédrine ou le fenfluramine est livrée à un mammifère par un itinéraire d'inhalation. La méthode comporte : a) chauffant une composition, où la composition comporte au moins 5 pour cent en poids de l'éphédrine ou du fenfluramine, pour former une vapeur ; et, b) permettant à la vapeur de se refroidir, formant de ce fait un aérosol de condensation comportant des particules, qui est inhalé par le mammifère. Dans un aspect de kit de la présente invention, on fournit un kit pour livrer l'éphédrine ou le fenfluramine par un itinéraire d'inhalation à un mammifère qui comporte : a) une composition comportant au moins 5 pour cent en poids de l'éphédrine ou du fenfluramine ; et, b) un dispositif qui forme une éphédrine ou un fenfluramine contenant l'aérosol de la composition, pour l'inhalation par le mammifère.
