The invention relates to a process for the preparation of
cis-6-hexadecenoic acid of the formula I,

which comprises reacting
a.sub.1) a triphenylphosphonium salt of the formula II,
R.sup.1 OOC--(CH.sub.2).sub.5 --P(R.sup.2).sub.3.sup.+ X.sup.- II
with decanal of the formula III
H.sub.3 C--(CH.sub.2).sub.8 --CH.dbd.O III
or
a.sub.2) a triphenylphosphonium salt of the formula IV,
H.sub.3 C--(CH.sub.2).sub.9 --P(R.sup.2).sub.3.sup.+ X.sup.- IV
with an aldehyde of the formula V,
R.sup.1 OOC--(CH.sub.2).sub.4 --CH.dbd.O V
in a Wittig reaction, and
b) saponifying the ester, formed by process step a.sub.1) or a.sub.2), of
the formula VI,

where the substituents R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and X.sup.- have the meanings
given in the description.
La invención se relaciona con un proceso para la preparación del ácido de cis-6-hexadecenoic del fórmula I, el ## que abarca reaccionar a.sub.1) una sal del triphenylphosphonium del fórmula II, R.sup.1 OOC -- (CH.sub.2).sub.5 del ## STR1 -- P(R.sup.2).sub.3.sup.+ X.sup. - II con decanal del fórmula III H.sub.3 C -- (CH.sub.2).sub.8 -- CH.dbd.O III o a.sub.2) una sal del triphenylphosphonium del fórmula IV, H.sub.3 C -- (CH.sub.2).sub.9 -- P(R.sup.2).sub.3.sup.+ X.sup. - IV con un aldehino del fórmula V, R.sup.1 OOC -- (CH.sub.2).sub.4 -- CH.dbd.O V en una reacción de Wittig, y b) saponificando el éster, formó por el paso de proceso a.sub.1) o a.sub.2), del fórmula VI, del ## del ## STR2 donde los sustitutos R.sup.1, de R.sup.2 y de X.sup. - tenga los significados dados en la descripción.
