A polycrystalline thin film of MgO is formed on a substrate by an ion
sputtering process wherein the thin film is obtained by irradiating a
target with an ion beam to dislodge particles from the target and deposit
the particles on the substrate. The film is preferably formed in an
atmosphere at a reduced pressure of 3.0.times.10.sup.-2 Pa or lower while
keeping the substrate temperature at 300.degree. C. or lower.
Ein polykristalliner Dünnfilm von MgO wird auf einem Substrat durch einen Ionenspritzenprozeß gebildet, worin der Dünnfilm erhalten wird, indem man ein Ziel mit einem Ionenlichtstrahl bestrahlt, um Partikel vom Ziel zu verdrängen und die Partikel auf dem Substrat niederzulegen. Der Film wird vorzugsweise in einer Atmosphäre mit einem reduzierten Druck von PA 3.0.times.10.sup.-2 oder niedriger beim Halten der Substrattemperatur an 300.degree gebildet. C. oder senken.
