The invention relates to a method and device for operating a hot rolling
train with at least one edger and at least one sensor with which the strip
end position is determined by means of a linear recording of the infrared
radiation from the rolled strip and whereby an optimization of the strip
width distribution is achieved by means of a calculation system.
