The present invention provides novel 2-methylpropionic acid derivatives
represented by the general formula:

(wherein R.sup.1 represents a hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group or an
aralkyl group; R.sup.2 represents a hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group or
a halogen atom; A represents an oxygen atom or an imino group; the carbon
atom marked with (R) represents a carbon atom in R configuration; and the
carbon atom marked with (S) represents a carbon atom in S configuration)
and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, which have excellent
.beta..sub.3 -adrenoceptor stimulating effects and are useful as agents
for the prevention or treatment of obesity, hyperglycemia, the diseases
caused by intestinal hypermotility, pollakiuria, urinary incontinence,
depression, or the diseases caused by biliary calculi or hypermotility of
the biliary tract.
Die anwesende Erfindung liefert die Säurederivate des Romans 2-methylpropionic, die durch die allgemeine Formel dargestellt werden: ## STR1 ## (worin R.sup.1 ein Wasserstoffatom, eine unterere Alkylgruppe oder eine aralkyl Gruppe darstellt; R.sup.2 stellt ein Wasserstoffatom, eine unterere Alkylgruppe oder ein Halogenatom dar; A stellt ein Sauerstoffatom oder eine imino Gruppe dar; das Kohlenstoffatom, das mit (R) gekennzeichnet wird, stellt ein Kohlenstoffatom in der R Konfiguration dar; und das Kohlenstoffatom, das mit (S) gekennzeichnet wird, stellt ein Kohlenstoffatom in der S Konfiguration) und pharmazeutisch in den annehmbaren Salzen davon dar, die ausgezeichnetes beta..sub.3 - anregende Effekte des Adrenoceptor haben und als Mittel für die Verhinderung oder die Behandlung von Korpulenz, von hyperglycemia, von Krankheiten, die durch intestinales hypermotility verursacht werden, von pollakiuria, von urinausscheidendem incontinence, von Tiefstand oder von Krankheiten, die durch Gallencalculi oder hypermotility der Gallenfläche verursacht werden nützlich sind.
