An organic EL device which contains an anode, a cathode, and at least one
organic thin-film layer including a light emitting layer which contains a
compound represented by the following general formula (1):

wherein Ar.sub.1, Ar.sub.2 represent a substituted or unsubstituted
aromatic hydrocarbon group, or a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic
heterocyclic group; Y represents a single bond or --CH.dbd.CH-- group; R1
to R4 represent each independently a hydrogen, a halogen, a cyano group, a
substituted amino group, a substituted alkoxy group, a substituted or
unsubstituted alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic
hydrocarbon group, or a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic heterocyclic
group; any two of R1 to R4 may form a ring; R5 represents a substituted or
unsubstituted alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic
hydrocarbon group, or a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic heterocyclic
group.
Un dispositif organique de EL qui contient une anode, une cathode, et au moins une couche en couche mince organique comprenant une couche d'émission mince qui contient un composé a représenté par la formule générale suivante (1) : ## du ## STR1 où Ar.sub.1, Ar.sub.2 représente groupe substitué ou non substitué d'hydrocarbure aromatique, ou un groupe hétérocyclique aromatique substitué ou non substitué ; Y représente une seule obligation ou -- CH.dbd.CH -- groupe ; R1 à R4 représente chacun indépendamment un hydrogène, un halogène, un groupe cyano, un groupe d'animés substitué, un groupe alkoxy substitué, un groupe alcoyle substitué ou non substitué, un groupe substitué ou non substitué d'hydrocarbure aromatique, ou un groupe hétérocyclique aromatique substitué ou non substitué ; n'importe quels deux de R1 à R4 peuvent former un anneau ; R5 représente un groupe alcoyle substitué ou non substitué, un groupe substitué ou non substitué d'hydrocarbure aromatique, ou un groupe hétérocyclique aromatique substitué ou non substitué.
