Compounds of the following structure are HMG CoA reductase inhibitors and
thus are active in inhibiting cholesterol biosynthesis, modulating blood
serum lipids such as lowering LDL cholesterol and/or increasing HDl
cholesterol, and treating hyperlipidemia, hypercholesterolemia,
hypertriglyceridemia and atherosclerosis

and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, wherein X is O, S, SO,
SO.sub.2 or NR.sub.7 ;
Z is

n is 0 or 1;
R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are the same or different and are independently
selected from alkyl, arylalkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkenyl, aryl,
heteroaryl or cycloheteroalkyl; and
R.sub.3 to R.sub.10 are as defined herein.
Mittel der folgenden Struktur sind HMG CoA Reduktasehemmnisse und sind folglich in inhibierender Cholesterinbiosynthese aktiv und modulieren Blutserumlipide wie Senken des LDL Cholesterins und/oder Erhöhung des HDl Cholesterins und das Behandeln von von Hyperlipidemie, von von hypercholesterolemia, hypertriglyceridemia und Atherosclerose ## STR1 von von ## und pharmazeutisch von von annehmbaren Salzen davon, worin X O, S, SO, SO.sub.2 oder NR.sub.7 ist; Z ist ## STR2 ## n ist 0 oder 1; R.sub.1 und R.sub.2 sind dieselben oder das unterschiedlich und werden unabhängig vom Alkyl, vom arylalkyl, vom cycloalkyl, vom Alkenyl, vom cycloalkenyl, vom Aryl, vom heteroaryl oder vom cycloheteroalkyl vorgewählt; und R.sub.3 zu R.sub.10 sind, wie hierin definiert.
