Glass fiber forming compositions

   
   

A glass fiber composition has 52 to 62 percent by weight SiO.sub.2, 0 to 2 percent by weight NaO.sub.2 O, 16 to 25 percent by weight CaO, 8 to 16 percent by weight Al.sub.2 O.sub.3, 0.05 to 0.80 percent by weight Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3, 0 to 2 percent by weight K.sub.2, 1 to 5 percent by weight MgO, 0 to 5 percent by weight B.sub.2 O.sub.3, to 0 to 2 percent by weight TiO.sub.2, and 0 to 1 percent by weight F, and further has a log 3 forming temperature of no greater than 1240.degree. C. based on an NIST 714 reference standard, a .DELTA.T of at least 50.degree. C., and a SiO.sub.2 /RO ratio of no greater than 2.35.
