Liquid crystal display devices having stairs type driving signal capable of
preventing over-twist and improving response time properties by applying
data signal of stairs type pulse signal when a gate signal is applied to
drive the TFT, including upper and lower substrates with an interposed
liquid crystal layer driving electrodes to drive the liquid crystals;
first and second alignment layers rubbed in a first direction and in a
direction parallel with the first alignment layer, respectively; first
polarizing plate arranged outside of the lower substrate, forming
45.degree. angle with the first direction; and second polarizing plate
outside of the upper substrate having a transmittance axis perpendicular
to the first polarizing plate and forming 45.degree. angle with the first
direction. A gate signal is applied to drive a thin film transistor in
each pixel, and data signals having two or more stairs type pulse signals
are successively applied.
