The present invention provides a coloring or tinting composition containing
one or more certain 2-nitro-p-phenylene diamine derivatives as substantive
dyes. The 2-nitro-p-phenylene diamine derivatives
1-(N-cycloheptylamino)-2-nitro-4-aminobenzene and
1-(N-cyclooctylamino)-2-nitro-4-aminobenzene are preferred.
