A method of obtaining a pharmacologically active extract of the cell walls
of Gram-positive bacteria is disclosed. The method involves the treatment
of the bacteria with acid such that the immune-stimulating properties are
enhanced. The extracts have immune stimulating and anti-tumor activities
with no toxicity at effective doses. The final products are stable,
water-soluble powders.
