An organic electroluminescence (EL) display unit includes a plurality of
pixels formed on a glass substrate and each including a TFT area and a
luminescence area. An edge cover film covers the TFT area and exposes the
luminescence area through a window formed in the edge cover film. The edge
of the edge cover film adjacent to the window has a taper angle equal to
or smaller than 30 degrees. This taper angle is obtained by a post-baking
treatment in addition to a step alleviating film formed in the
luminescence area to underlie the organic EL element.
