Methods and systems for identifying, understanding, and predicting the
degradation and failure of mechanical systems are disclosed. The methods
include measuring and quantifying stressors that are responsible for the
activation of degradation mechanisms in the machine component of interest.
The intensity of the stressor may be correlated with the rate of physical
degradation according to some determinable function such that a derivative
relationship exists between the machine performance, degradation, and the
underlying stressor. The derivative relationship may be used to make
diagnostic and prognostic calculations concerning the performance and
projected life of the machine. These calculations may be performed in real
time to allow the machine operator to quickly adjust the operational
parameters of the machinery in order to help minimize or eliminate the
effects of the degradation mechanism, thereby prolonging the life of the
machine. Various systems implementing the methods are also disclosed.
I metodi ed i sistemi per identificare, capire e la predizione la degradazione e del guasto dei sistemi meccanici sono rilevati. I metodi includono la misurazione e la misura dei fattori di sforzo che sono responsabili dell'attivazione dei meccanismi di degradazione nel componente della macchina di interesse. L'intensità del fattore di sforzo può essere correlata con il tasso di degradazione fisica secondo una certa funzione determinabile tali che un rapporto derivative esiste fra le prestazioni della macchina, la degradazione ed il fattore di sforzo di fondo. Il rapporto derivative può essere usato per effettuare i calcoli diagnostici e prognostici riguardo alle prestazioni ed alla durata proiettata della macchina. Questi calcoli possono essere effettuati in tempo reale per permettere che l'operatore registri rapidamente i parametri operativi del macchinario per contribuire a minimizzare o eliminare gli effetti del meccanismo di degradazione, quindi prolunganti la durata della macchina. I vari sistemi che effettuano i metodi inoltre sono rilevati.
