A polymeric material comprises at least one repeat unit consisting
substantially of a moiety of Formula 1:

in which Y.sup.1 represents N, P, S, As and/or Se. Ar.sup.1 and Ar.sup.2,
which may the same or different, represent independently a multivalent,
optionally substituted aromatic group, and Ar.sup.3 represents
independently a mono or multivalent, optionally substituted aromatic
group. At least one terminal group is attached in the polymer to the
Ar.sup.1, Ar.sup.2 and optionally Ar.sup.3 groups located at the end of
the polymer chains, so as to cap the polymer chains and prevent further
polymer growth. At least one terminal group is derived from at least one
end capping reagent used in the polymerization to form the polymeric
material to control the molecular weight thereof. A charge transport
material comprising such polymers is useful in electroreprographic and
electroluminescent devices. These polymers may be made by controlling
their molecular weight with an end capping reagent.
Um material polymeric compreende ao menos uma unidade do repeat que consiste substancialmente em um moiety da fórmula 1: ## do ## STR1 no que Y.sup.1 representa N, P, S, como e/ou SE Ar.sup.1 e Ar.sup.2, que pode o mesmos ou diferente, representar independentemente um grupo aromatic, e um Ar.sup.3 multivalentes, opcionalmente substituídos representa independentemente um grupo aromatic mono ou multivalente, opcionalmente substituído. Ao menos um grupo terminal é unido no polímero aos grupos Ar.sup.1, Ar.sup.2 e opcionalmente Ar.sup.3 situados na extremidade das correntes do polímero, para tampar as correntes do polímero e impedir um crescimento mais adicional do polímero. Ao menos um grupo terminal é derivado ao menos de um reagent tampando da extremidade usado na polimerização dar forma ao material polymeric para controlar o peso molecular disso. Um material do transporte da carga que compreende tais polímeros é útil em dispositivos electroreprographic e eletroluminescentes. Estes polímeros podem ser feitos controlando seu peso molecular com um reagent tampando da extremidade.
