A system for managing a network component of a communication network is disclosed.
A process manager manages processes of a network component. A process communication
module communicates data among the processes. A redundancy manager controls the
processes of the network component in response to mate processes of a mate network
component related as a redundant peer with the network component. An operating
system interface provides an interface between the processes and an operating system.
