An aqueous composite particle composition containing composite particles and
polyvalent
metal ion is provided. The composite particles contain pigment particle with adsorbed
polymer particles. The polymer particles contain pendant acid functional groups
and has a molecular weight in a select range. Also provided are methods of preparing
the aqueous composite particle composition. The aqueous composite particle composition
is useful for preparing coating with high gloss and improved solvent resistance.
