Disclosed are constitutively active nuclear orphan receptors (CAR), which
include one or more mutations which decrease the constitutive nature of
CAR in vitro. The resulting non constitutively active nuclear orphan
receptors can be used to screen for agents that metabolize xenochemicals
and/or steroids.
