A process for treating nitrogen-containing, substantially paraffinic product
derived
from a Fischer-Tropsch process. The substantially paraffinic product is purified
in a purification process to lower the concentration of oxygen, nitrogen, and other
impurities. The nitrogen content of the purified product is monitored, and the
conditions of the purification step are adjusted to increase nitrogen removal if
the nitrogen content of the purified product exceeds a preselected value.
