A granular composite material for recovering platinum particles from reaction
gas
flow in nitric acid production, comprising 50-75% calcium oxide by weight; 20-35%
of magnesium oxide by weight; and 5-15% by weight of at least one chloride selected
from the group consisting of calcium chloride and magnesium chloride; and a method
of recovering platinum particles from reaction gas flow in nitric acid production
comprising passing the reaction gas through a layer of a sorbent to absorb platinum
particles, the sorbent being formed by the granular composite material described
above, and extracting the absorbed platinum particles from the sorbent.
