A modular joint prosthesis is intended for implantation in a patient.
According to an exemplary embodiment, the modular joint prosthesis
includes a head and a stem coupled to the head. The stem has a proximal
portion coupled to the head and a distal portion configured to extend
into a long bone of the patient. The distal portion may be removed from
the stem after implantation of the prosthesis without also removing the
proximal portion.
