A method and system for improving a color image separable into three color components.
A noise-filtering unit is used to filter the color components for providing noise-filtered
color components. The edge information extracted from one color component is used
to adjust the noise-filtered color component of a different color. The algorithm
for noise filtering of color components can be based on linear spatial filters,
non-linear filters or the combinations thereof. The algorithm for edge detection
can be based on directional or non-directional spatial filters.
