A radio transceiver, for example a mobile station, for use in a code division
multiple
access (CDMA) system, estimates the signal-to-interference ratio of received signals,
for use in power control of transmissions thereto. The estimation algorithm, used
to estimate the signal-to-interference ratio, is altered based on the estimated
relative velocity of the transceiver.
