This invention relates to compositions and methods for the treatment of
pathologies associated with intracellular polyamine dysregulation. In
particular, the present invention provides compositions and methods
involving mammalian polyamine oxidase (PAO) to treat cancer, cell damage,
tissue damage caused by ischemia/reperfusion, inflammation, traumatic
brain injury, stroke and tissue developmental disorders. Methods for
diagnosis and prognosis of cancer and other diseases are also provided by
the present invention.
