An electrophoretic display includes a first substrate disposed on a viewer side,
a second substrate disposed at a predetermined spacing with the first substrate,
a first electrode disposed on the first substrate side, a second electrode disposed
on the second electrode side, liquid disposed at the predetermined spacing, and
a plurality of charged particles dispersed in the liquid. The charged particles
are movable by changing a polarity of a voltage applied between the first and second
electrodes to effect display. The second electrode at a pixel has a surface area
larger than that of the first electrode at the pixel.
