The present invention describes difluororthioacetamide oxazolidinones of formula
I:

R is -CH2- or -CH2CH2-; R2 and R3
are independently -H or -F; X is -CH-; Y is -SO-, -SO2-, or -SONR4-;
and R4 is -H or -C1-4alkyl. These compounds are useful to
treat infectives diseases caused by gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
