A cyclic tertiary amine compound represented by a formula (1) and an organic luminescent device are disclosed. Use of the cyclic tertiary amine compound as a hole transport material, a hole injection material or an organic electroluminescent material can provide organic EL devices having high luminous efficiency and a long service life. ##STR1##
