A liquid detergent composition comprising:

    • a) a surfactant, and
    • b) a fatty acid salt containing a fatty acid chain having at least one carbon-carbon double bond,
    • wherein said composition, when dissolved in water to a concentration of 5 wt %, has a pH of 6.8 or less.
