This invention provides implants comprising tissue having an intercellular
matrix anchored to a biocompatible scaffold. The intercellular matrix of
the tissue provides a natural medium to facilitate the healing and growth
of damaged tissue in a patient. The present invention provides methods of
treating damaged tissue in a patient by inserting such implants into the
damaged tissue. The implants of the present invention include implants
comprising allogenic and/or autologous tissue. The tissue may also be
acellular.
