A catheter system for delivering ultrasonic energy and a therapeutic compound
to
a treatment site within a patient's vasculature comprises a tubular body. The tubular
body has a proximal end, a distal end and an energy delivery section positioned
between the proximal end and the distal end. The catheter system further comprises
an inner core configured for insertion into the tubular body. The inner core has
an outer surface and comprises an electrically conductive core material. The catheter
system further comprises a plurality of ultrasound radiating members positioned
on the outer surface of the inner core. The ultrasound radiating members are electrically
connected to the electrically conductive core material. The catheter system further
comprises an electrically conductive tube-shaped member disposed over the inner
core and over the ultrasound radiating members positioned thereon. At least a portion
of the electrically conductive tube-shaped member is electrically connected to
a plurality of the ultrasound radiating members. The catheter system further comprises
control circuitry configured to deliver an input signal to a plurality of the ultrasound
radiating members.
