The present invention provides compounds of formula (I) 1 wherein A.sup.1, A.sup.2, A.sup.3, A.sup.4, A.sup.5, A.sup.6, A.sup.7, A.sup.8 , A.sup.9, A.sup.10, U, V, W, m, n and p-are as indicated in the specification, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof. The compounds are useful for the treatment and/or prophylaxis of diseases which are associated with 2,3-oxidosqualene-lanosterol cyclase such as hypercholesterolemia and hyperlipemia.
