Methods and systems for installing and monitoring a proximity sensor are
disclosed. A target can be detected utilizing a sensor located proximate to the
target. Data can be then automatically generated by the sensor, wherein the data
comprises information indicative of the relative position of the target and the
sensor. Thereafter, the data can be transmitted from the sensor to a mobile device
(e.g., a PDA, laptop computer, etc) having a processor for processing the data
and a graphical user interface, wherein the data can be displayed and manipulated
by a user of the mobile device in order to accurately position the sensor and target
for installation and maintenance thereof.
