The headlight unit is held relative to the vehicle body by a support which yields in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle under the effect of force. The pane is fixedly connected with one side of the support and the opposite side of the support is fastened to the headlight unit housing. The yielding support may comprise a rubber bellows.
