A remote temperature monitoring apparatus includes a base-located energizing
wave
transmission/communication wave reception unit (e.g. located on a cooking stove)
and a remotely-located, energizing-wave-powered, temperature-dependent communication
wave emission unit (e. g. located on a cooking vessel). The base-located energizing
wave transmission/communication wave reception unit transmits a series of probing
energizing waves and receives temperature-dependent resonant communication wave
emissions. The remotely-located, energizing-wave-powered, temperature-dependent
communication wave emission unit includes material which has a temperature-dependent
communication wave emission characteristic, monitors temperature at the remote
location, and transmits a temperature-dependent resonant communication wave emission
which is received by the base-located energizing wave transmission/communication
wave reception unit which provides an alarm signal when the monitored temperature
at the remote location (the cooking vessel) is equal to or is beyond a predetermined
alarm temperature.
