The present invention provides a method and system for providing web audio content
directly from audio processors to a telephone without requiring storage of the
audio on a media server. In one embodiment, a switch and two stages of switching
are used. The switch is coupled between at least one audio source and a network
interface controller. A direct access controller is coupled to the audio sources,
switch and network interface controller. The direct access controller establishes
a first audio channel through the switch in a connection phase. The direct access
controller establishes a second audio channel through the switch in an audio transport
phase. In the audio transport phase, web audio content is transported directly
from a remote web server to an audio source on the second audio channel and then
from the audio source to the user of the telephone on the first audio channel.
In another embodiment, a method and system for provides web video content directly
from processors to a telephone without requiring storage of the video on a media server.
