In a muffler device of a motor vehicle, with a plurality of mufflers and an actuator
for changing the flow resistance to the exhaust gases flowing through the mufflers,
in order to change the damping characteristic, the actuator is provided in a pipe
branch having an inlet and two outlets, each outlet being connected via a pipe
to a muffler, and the throughflow cross section of the inlet being variable by
means of the actuator.
