The present invention relates to heel stabilizing technology that can be
used alone (in conjunction with a wearer's own shoes or shoe covers),
incorporated within shoes, or incorporated within shoe coverings for
shoes with flat to any height heels. When incorporated into a shoe or
shoe cover, the present invention has a heel tension fastener located at
the back and/or sides of the shoe cover which, when engaged, provides a
tension which is countered by a upper stabilizing means consisting of
anchoring fastener(s) and/or anchoring marerial(s) located at a strategic
point between the mid heel and below the knee. The tension created
between the heel tension fastener and the upper stabilizing means
provides the wearer with greater balance and less teetering from
side-to-side when wearing the shoe cover over a shoe with any height
heel. When incorporated into a shoe covering, the present invention
relates to a shoe covering for shoes with flat to any height heels, is
waterproof or water-resistant, is made of a non-porous, flexible
material, with a slip-resistant, sufficiently rigid sole, and provides
increased stability for wearers of heels of varying heights due to its
slip-resistant feature and the tension provided by the heel tension
fastener which is countered or off-set by a strategically positioned
fastener. The shoe cover can also be compact to provide for convenient
carrying, is fashionable, can optionally have the capability of having
its leg shaft height varied, and may or may not have a self-grip
fastening, elastic or any other mechanism to grip the ankle or calf of
the wearer. The shoe cover has an opening at one end of the leg shaft so
that a shoe can easily be inserted into the main body portion. The shoe
cover can further be secured to a section of the front portion of the
wearer's shoe by an elastic portion or other means of fastening, and then
additionally at the ankle and/or leg. The shoe cover, while having a sole
that is rigid relative to the leg shaft and main body portion, is
preferably inexpensive, lightweight and sufficiently flexible to be
folded into a compact size for emergency use, such as in a purse, pocket,
briefcase, backpack or the like.
