The present invention relates to a liquid .alpha.-olefin vinyl acetate compound containing a liquid .alpha.-olefin vinyl acetate copolymer. Compositions according to the present invention have improved resistance to premature vulcanization as well as good physical properties and aging resistance. The present invention is also directed to a vulcanized compound containing a liquid ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer.
