The present invention comprises a compound represented by the following structure: R.sub.h'(O--R.sub.f).sub.m wherein: m=3 4 R.sub.f is, independently, a perfluoroaliphatic group; R.sub.h' is independently a linear or branched hydrocarbon with from 3 to about 8 carbon atoms. Another embodiment is an apparatus comprising a device and a mechanism for heat transfer comprising a hydrofluoroether heat-transfer fluid.Another embodiment of the present invention is a method for heat transfer.
