This application relates to the use of certain amines of formula (I) ##STR00001## for combatting and preventing systemic and local complement activation, and in particular to the use of meglumine and derivatives and optionally salts thereof in combatting and preventing said activation. The amines are also of use in combatting activation of the kinin/kallikrein system or blood coagulation system.
