An organic electroluminescence device comprises a cathode, an anode and a
layer of an organic thin film comprising one or a plurality of layers and
disposed between the cathode and the anode, wherein at least one of the
layers in the layer of an organic thin film comprises a laminate of a
layer comprising a metal complex having an energy gap of 2.8 eV or
greater and a layer of a host material. The organic electroluminescence
device exhibits a higher efficiency of light emission and has a longer
life than conventional devices while the emitted light has a high
luminance.
