A photopolymerizable composition comprising a polymer having a radical
polymerizable group and a unit represented by the following formula (I):

X.sup.1 and X.sup.2 each independently represent --R-- or a halogen atom,
R represents a hetero atom; R.sup.a and R.sup.b each independently
represent a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a cyano group or an organic
residual group; X.sup.1 and X.sup.2 may be taken together to form a
cyclic structure; R.sup.a and R.sup.b may be taken together to form a
cyclic structure; and X.sup.1 and R.sup.a or R.sup.b may be taken
together to form a cyclic structure.
