A method of washing a soiled textile comprising cotton, the method comprising contacting the textile with a wash liquor, the wash liquor containing a soil-release effective amount of one or more soil release polymers obtained by polymerizing one or more polyisocyanates with one or more polymeric polyols having an average molar mass of above 1000 D and a 20.degree. C. water solubility of above 300 g of polymer per liter, one or more polyols having an average molar mass of below 12,000 D and a 20.degree. C. water solubility of below 100 g per liter, and optionally one or more further polyols.
