A metal compound obtained by a process comprising the step of contacting, in a specific ratio, a compound represented by the formula M.sup.1L.sup.1.sub.r, a compound represented by the formula R.sup.1.sub.s-1TH, and a compound represented by the formula R.sup.2.sub.4-nJ(OH).sub.n; a catalyst component for addition polymerization comprising the metal compound; a catalyst for addition polymerization using the catalyst component; and a process for producing an addition polymer using the catalyst.
