The invention provides a film comprising a phosphoprotein preparation, wherein the phosphoprotein preparation has been obtained by partially cross linking a partial hydrolysate of casein or a caseinate, a source of one or more physiologically acceptable cations, and a plasticizer. The film is preferably edible and substantially soluble. In particularly preferred embodiments, the source of one or more physiologically acceptable cations comprises natural milk calcium phosphate, and the plasticizer is glycerol.
