The present invention provides a method of producing porous spherical
particles, which includes suspension polymerization of a multifunctional
monomer having two or more vinyl groups and a vinyl monomer having one
vinyl group in an aqueous medium in the presence of a porogen and a
distribution stabilizer, wherein the distribution stabilizer is polyvinyl
alcohol having a saponification degree of 75 to 85 mol %. According to
the method of the present invention, generation of particle agglomerates
and large particles can be suppressed and porous spherical particles
having a desired average particle size and a narrow particle size
distribution can be conveniently produced.
