This invention provides estrogen receptor modulators of formula I, having the structure ##STR00001## whereinR.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.2a, R.sub.3, R.sub.3a, and R.sub.4, and X as defined in the specification, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
