A compound of Formula (I): ##STR00001## wherein: X is selected from the
group consisting of O, S, and NR.sup.17, where R.sup.17 is hydrogen or
lower alkyl; C.sup.1, C.sup.2, A, and Y are CH, N, NR.sup.17, O, or S,
wherein C.sup.1 and C.sup.2 are the same or different; D.sup.1, D.sup.2,
B, and Z are CH, N, or NR.sup.17 wherein D.sup.1 and D.sup.2 are the same
or different; provided that B, Z, or both B and Z are not present when A,
Y, or both A and Y are O, S, or NR.sup.17; R.sup.13, R.sup.14, R.sup.15,
R.sup.16, R.sup.1 and R.sup.8 are selected from the group consisting of
H, lower alkyl, halogen, alkoxyl, aryloxyl, aralkoxy and hydroxyl;
R.sup.3 and R.sup.6 are each independently selected from the group
consisting of H, hydroxy, lower alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, aralkyl,
alkoxyl, hydroxycycloalkyl, alkoxycycloalkyl, hydroxyalkyl, aminoalkyl,
acyloxy, acetoxy, and alkylaminoalkyl; and R.sup.2, R.sup.4, R.sup.5 and
R.sup.7 are each independently selected from the group consisting of H,
lower alkyl, alkoxyalkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, aralkyl, hydroxyalkyl,
aminoalkyl, and alkylaminoalkyl, or R.sup.2 and R.sup.4 together or
R.sup.5 and R.sup.7 together represent a C.sub.2 to C.sub.10 alkyl,
hydroxyalkyl, or alkylene, or R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 together or R.sup.6 and
R.sup.7 together are: ##STR00002## wherein n is a number from 1 to 3,
and R.sup.9 is H or --CONHR.sup.10NR.sup.11R.sup.12, wherein R.sup.10 is
lower alkyl and R.sup.11 and R.sup.12 are each independently selected
from the group consisting of H and lower alkyl.
