Compounds of the formula I: ##STR00001## wherein R.sup.x is cyano or bromo; R.sup.1 is halo; R.sup.2 is C.sub.114 C.sub.3 alkyl, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts and prodrugs thereof have activity as antiretrovirals.
