The present invention provides a method for producing pellets or pellets
of a liquid-crystalline polymer composition with a reduced amount of
anionic impurities such as chloride, nitrate and sulfate ions. The
present invention provides a method for producing pellets of a
liquid-crystalline polymer, which comprises: providing a molten state
liquid-crystalline polymer in a polycondensation reaction vessel, pulling
out the liquid-crystalline polymer from a valve at the bottom of the
reaction vessel through a die to give a strand of the polymer, cooling
the strand on a water cooling conveyor positioned below the reaction
vessel, and cutting the strand to give the pellets, wherein the cooling
water for the strand is pure water whose electrical conductance is not
more than 10 .mu.S/cm.
