The base station is capable of transmitting to a first mobile station a first channel assignment message (CAM) assigning the first mobile station to a selected traffic channel during a call, wherein the base station is further capable of transmitting to the first mobile station at least a second channel assignment message assigning the first mobile station to the selected traffic channel.
